Liberal Arts & Professional Studies
The Economics Qualification Year is a pathway to Economics programs at York. It offers a focused first year with the courses you will need to be considered for second year entry to the Economics, Business Economics or Financial & Business Economics programs in the Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies (LA&PS). This option is ideal if you don’t meet direct entry requirements but still want to study Economics. By successfully completing 24 credits, including Economics Qualification Year required courses, with a final cumulative GPA of 5.00/C+ (for Economics or Financial & Business Economics) or 4.00/C for Business Economics, you will be able to join one of our LA&PS Economics programs in second year. If you are not successful in completing these requirements, the credits you earned in first year will allow you to pursue other programs, such as Public Policy & Administration or Business & Society.
